Well this was the last cut for September, on the 30th:
- Soil temp = 16.1C; Air temp = 18.6C (time taken 1630)
- Grass height mostly 65mm (ranging from 60mm – 75mm): cut again at 40mm
- Grass was damp for all of the day and wet when cut
- Moss is creeping back into some areas of the lawn (top part)
I also carried out a light hand forking – more of a light stabbing of the fork to maybe 40mm depth (around 1.5 inches) to help open the surface slightly where some moss was creeping back into the lawn. This is mostly on the main shaded top part and top edges of the lawn.
The clippings were in the order of 1/3rd to 1/4 of a box.
The edges certainly need a trim – something which I have been saying for a while now. More forking and a light sanding can still be done to good effect although with the nights drawing in and it starting to turn colder there will be limited light and warmth energy to help the grass colonise over any thin areas resulting from these activities.
